Savvy Rest, manufacturer of organic mattresses and bedding, is now GOTS-certified. GOTS stands for Global Organic Textile Standard, and it means that Savvy Rest’s manufacturing facility has passed the most demanding organic requirements any product or manufacturer can meet. GOTS certification ensures that organic textiles have been responsibly harvested, manufactured and labeled.

Savvy Rest's materials are GOTS certified, the Global Organic Textile Standard

While any business can sell products that contain some GOTS-certified textile and can properly display the GOTS logo, very few companies have been certified for manufacturing. Oregon Tilth, the most respected organic certifying organization, has certified that our manufacturing facility meets the GOTS standard.

In 1990, the Organic Foods Production Act (OFPA) was passed to oversee organic standards for U.S. food and agricultural products. More consumers are demanding organic certifications for the foods their families consume. Today, more people are also becoming aware of the importance of organic textiles. Fibers and fabrics produced without pesticides and harsh chemicals are safer for both the health of the earth and human health.

An international working group launched GOTS to develop globally recognized requirements that would offer confidence to consumers and credibility for manufacturers. According to GOTS, this certification means: “Textile processors and manufacturers are enabled to export their organic fabrics and garments with one certification accepted in all major markets.”

GOTS ensures that the organic cotton and organic wool we use are monitored throughout the production process—from the harvesting of raw materials through all processing and packaging to final labeling. We are very proud to have met this demanding standard.
